Old project breathing new life! Music Glenelg Inc.
The Friends of the Great South West Walk in association with Music Glenelg Inc has formalised a committee to be initially known as the Symphony in Four Movements Committee.
In 1997 a project to
run a competition seeking a composer to write a Symphony
in Four Movements, celebrating the Great South West Walk was
discussed. For various
reasons the project never saw the light of day.
Mid 2005, Music Glenelg Inc. initiated a proposal
that the project be revisited, but on this occasion to seek a composer to write
a new work.
A “preliminary task force committee” of
Friends of the GSWW and Music Glenelg Inc executive members was formed and the
Committee has commissioned Melbourne Composer, Dindy Vaughan, who has
commenced writing the work.
Dindy is a writer, educator and composer who was a
finalist in the 2006 Classical Music Awards.
The title for the evolving symphony has been

The highly acclaimed Royal Melbourne
Philharmonic Orchestra has been invited to perform the music
